The French-American Foundation welcomed two experts in China-related affairs to offer their perspectives on the country’s economic and social development in the digital era. The discussion took into account the history of China’s domestic and foreign policies and its relationship to France and the United States. The Foundation believes that China plays an essential role in transatlantic affairs, especially in light of recent events such as the escalating trade negotiations with China and the Huawei controversy, and that understanding its relationship to both sides of the Atlantic is necessary to productive dialogue.

Alexandre Chenesseau: Alex is a Vice President at Evercore Partners and based in New York. Prior to Evercore, Alex worked at Lazard for 8 years in Paris, Beijing, and New York, where he focused on financial and strategic advisory for clients in the media, telecom, and technology sectors. He was based in Beijing from 2011 to 2015 where he worked on cross-boarder M&A and strategic advisory assignments in Mainland China and Hong Kong for both foreign and Chinese companies.

Scott Moskowitz: Scott Moskowitz is a New York-based sociologist finishing his PhD at Princeton University. His research focuses on the intersection of consumption, identity, and politics in the development of the Chinese Middle Class. Previously Scott served as an open-source intelligence analyst for the US Army’s Foreign Military Studies Office, covering China’s influence on the geostrategic environment.
