Aude Bray

LCDR Aude Bray joined the Navy in 2007 after graduating from Sciences Po Paris, with a major in Public Affairs. After serving a year as an officer of the watch on La Fayette type frigates, she completed her training as a gunnery and missile officer in the French Naval Academy, and on the last tour of the Jeanne d’Arc helicopter carrier. From 2010 to 2012, she served on the Albatros, patrolling the South of the Indian Ocean and French Southern Territories, working with Australian counterparts on several occasions.

From 2012 to 2017, she served on the antisubmarine frigates Montcalm and Jean de Vienne, as a deputy then artillery officer, and completed a year of advanced training in combat systems during this period. She also became Jean de Vienne’s ship-handling officer and took part in various operations in the Far East and the Eastern Mediterranean. Afterwards, she served for two years as Executive Officer (XO) onboard destroyer Commandant Bouan, patrolling the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Guinea in support of French and European interests in the region, as well as cooperation with several African navies.

In 2019-2020, she joined the amphibious helicopter carrier Mistral as navigation and ship-handling officer, in charge of completing the training of French cadets in both areas during the 5-month long graduation mission “Jeanne d’Arc”. In June 2021, she graduated from the French War College, as a member of the 28th class.

LCDR Bray is 37, married, and is currently the XO of a frigate.
