Annual Event

The French-American Foundation hosted its second annual Women of the Foundation event the week of the UN’s International Women’s Day. Co-sponsored by French clothing store ba&sh, the celebration featured discussions from four guests of honor (of which three are Young Leaders) on their careers as writers and their recent publications.

Katherine Brown: Dr. Katherine Brown is the President & CEO of Global Ties U.S., the largest and oldest citizen diplomacy network in the United States. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgetown University. See her Young Leaders page.

Michelle Miller: Michelle began writing pseudonymously while working at JP Morgan’s Private Bank. Her debut novel, The Underwriting, a satirical corporate thriller about Wall Street and Silicon Valley, was published in 20 languages and developed into a television pilot she wrote for FOX. THE FAIRER SEX, a collection of semi-satirical, semi-erotic stories about women in the modern world, will be released this Valentine’s Day on Amazon’s Original Stories platform. She is also writing and Executive Producing the television adaptation of the collection for Amazon. See her Young Leaders page.

Clélia Renucci: Clélia Renucci is a 33-year-old French literature teacher. She relocated to New York 2 years ago and she now devotes her time to writing. In 2015, she published with Albin Michel a non-fiction essay, Libres d’aimer about the greatest love stories between older women and younger men in European novels. She had this idea while working on her PhD about Balzac’s Comédie HumaineConcours pour le Paradis is her debut novel, published in France with Albin Michel.

Karin Tanabe: Karin Tanabe, a former Politico reporter, is the author of four novels—the historical fiction books The Diplomat’s Daughter and The Gilded Years as well as The List and The Price of Inheritance, all published by Simon & Schuster. Her fifth book, A Hundred Suns, a psychological thriller set in 1930s Indochina, will be published by St. Martin’s Press in early 2020. See her Young Leaders page.
