November 2018
The French-American Foundation began its monthly program schedule by welcoming Ambassador François Delattre at a closed-door luncheon on the state of French-US relations. The discussion was moderated by Megan Carroll, Team Leader at the United Nations Secretariat and member of the 2018 class of French-American Foundation Young Leaders. Ambassador Delattre drew from his experience as Ambassador of France to the UN, former Ambassador of France to the US, and former Consul General of France in New York to offer insight into the UN Security Council and how the relationship has developed between France and the United States over the years of his tenure.
On November 7th, the Foundation welcomed three experts in blockchain technology at our monthly Transatlantic Forum meeting. Cara LaPointe of Georgetown University, Vanessa Grellet of ConsenSys, and Kathryn Harrison of IBM Blockchain led the group toward a better understanding of how the technology functions and the ethical and practical implications of using it in systems from public health to banking.
On November 14th, the Foundation welcomed Dr. Henry Sheinkopf, President of Sheinkopf Communications, as part of our Policy Breakfast series to examine the Midterm elections one week after the results. Having worked on an estimated 700 political campaigns around the globe, Dr. Sheinkopf spoke to the factors that contributed to the elections’ outcome, such as the roles of political messaging, values, and identity.
The French-American Foundation’s various initiatives assemble French and American leaders to advance dialogue on transatlantic affairs, from topics in policy and cyber security to journalism and translation.
