About the French-American Foundation (FAF)
Founded in 1976, the French-American Foundation (FAF) is the only organization dedicated solely to sustaining and strengthening the French-American relationship at the highest levels of leadership. The Foundation works to build lasting, practical working ties between France and the United States and to advance solutions to problems of shared concern. Through this work, FAF works to perpetuate more than two centuries of shared ideals and friendship between French and the United States and to meet the challenges of the 21st century, together. The Foundation will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025 and through the end of 2026.

French-American Foundation Programs
The French-American Foundation produces and presents nearly 400 hours of programming each year. Its flagship program, the Young Leaders Program, was established in 1981. The alumni roster includes nearly 700 leaders in government, business, science, and culture. In addition to Presidents Bill Clinton, Emmanuel Macron, and François Hollande, YL alumni include U.S. Secretaries of State Hillary Clinton and Antony Blinken, former U.S. Senators Bill Bradley and Laphonza Butler and current Pennsylvania Senator Dave McCormick, as well as former Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO General Wesley Clark, former UNICEF Director Carol Bellamy, former Ambassador and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, former NYSE CEO & Merrill Lynch Chair John Thain, and French Astronaut Thomas Pesquet.

In addition to the Young Leaders Program & Alumni Network, the Foundation produces and presents a menu of programs which include the Translation Prize, Policy Event Series, Cyber Security Conference, and Transatlantic Forum. The Translation Prize is a valuable element of intellectual and cultural exchange between France and the United States. For nearly 40 years, the Translation Prize has awarded exceptional French-to-English translations in fiction and nonfiction, putting translators and their talent – and publishers that bring important French works to the American market – in the spotlight.
