Brexit: What Are the Consequences for Both Irelands?

The French-American Foundation hosted a Zoom Webinar on Wednesday, March 17 at 1:00 pm ET to examine the impact of Brexit on Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The event featured guest speaker David O’Sullivan, former European Union Ambassador to the United States. Alexis Mojaisky, Spokesperson & Chief of Staff at the French Mission to the United Nations, moderated the discussion.
David O’Sullivan: David O’Sullivan served as ambassador of the European Union Delegation to the United States from November 2014 to February 2019. Prior to this, he was the chief operating officer of the EU’s new diplomatic service, the European External Action Service. He has previously held several senior positions within the European Commission including: director general for trade from 2005 to2010; secretary general from 2000 to2005 and chief of staff to the Commission President Romano Prodi from1999 –to 2000. Before joining the executive body, he served in the Irish department of foreign affairs and trade from1977to 1979.
Alexis Mojaisky: Born in 1986, Alexis Mojaïsky is a French diplomat, serving as spokesperson and chief of staff at the French Mission to United Nations in New York since 2018. Beforehand, he worked at the Quai d’Orsay as a desk officer on Central African affairs within the Africa Department (2013-2016), then on political affairs within the Department for United Nations, international organizations, Human Rights and Francophonie (2016-2018).
