Zoom Webinar: How the Coronavirus Pandemic Will Change Geopolitics, March 26, 2020
The French-American Foundation hosted its first Zoom webinar on the impacts of coronavirus on geopolitics. The event featured guest speaker Richard Fontaine (Young Leader ’15), CEO of the Center for a New American Security, and moderator Megan Carroll (Young Leader ’18), Political Affairs Officer in the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism.
The webinar began with an introduction of the speakers and the changes to geopolitics that have taken place so far. Richard examined internal cooperation in the face of the pandemic, its impacts on global competition, the role of governments, and more.
The discussion was followed by a series of questions by Megan and the audience. Topics addressed included what action could be taken by international working bodies (such as the G7 and the WHO), what lessons can be drawn from current responses to COVID-19, and potential on supply chains and the November elections.
The French-American Foundation developed this webinar initiative to continue our mission of encouraging transatlantic dialogue while prioritizing the health and safety of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our webinars take place throughout the month.
