Thibéry Lancrenon

Lieutenant colonel Thibéry Lancrenon, 38, was born in Castelnaudary (Aude). Upon his graduation from French military academy of Saint-Cyr and ESSEC Business School in 2012, he was commissioned an infantry officer.

He joined the 13th Airborne Dragoon Regiment (13th RDP) in 2013, the French Special Forces’ strategic intelligence unit. Trained as a special recce team leader, he was deployed to Sahel and Central African Republic on intelligence-gathering and counterterrorism missions.

He later served as Operations Officer, leading Special Forces detachments in the Sahel and in Iraq against the Islamic State, notably during the Battle of Mosul. From 2018 to 2020, he assumed command of the 4th Squadron of the 13th RDP.

Following this operational phase, he joined the Institute for Higher National Defense Studies (IHEDN) in Paris as a staff member on « Defense Policy ». He subsequently became aide-de-camp to the Prime Minister from March 2022 to April 2024. He then attended the Sahel Defense College in Mauritania and graduated from the French War College in 2026.

Since summer 2025, he has been assigned to the French Armed Forces Headquarters in Paris, where he oversees the strategic planning of operations on Europe’s eastern flank.

Having deployed on eight overseas operations, his awards include the croix de la Valeur militaire with three stars.

Married with four children, he has a strong interest in oenology, travel, and endurance sports, particularly rugby and swimrun.
