Sarah Martin
Sarah Martin left the the United States Army in 2024 after fifteen years of service. She began her Army career as part of the groundbreaking wave of women to command in ground combat, leading a platoon in the 2/506th Infantry Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011, during which she earned the Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge. She later commanded a company of advanced linguists at the Defense Language Institute, led a Department of Defense Persian-Farsi language program, and taught Economics at West Point.
Her service as a field grade officer included two years collaborating with the French and other partner militaries at École de Guerre-Terre and École de Guerre in Paris, France. Her research and analytical work have focused on how open-source information is disrupting traditional military intelligence and diplomacy, as well as the advantages of artificial intelligence in weaponry and warfare. Recently, she served as a Military Fellow with McKinsey & Company and will transition to a career in the private sector next year.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the United States Military Academy (West Point), a Master of Science in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School, and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Sarah is an enthusiastic traveler and avid outdoorswoman. She enjoys fly-fishing and some of her favorite treks have been in France, to include the GR10 in the Pyrenees and thru-hiking the GR20 in Corsica.
