Maël de Calan is a center-right politician, elected to various local positions in Brittany both in his hometown of Roscoff and in the Department of Finistère. He is also a member of the Political Bureau of the right-wing party Les Républicains and Vice-President of Libres, a centre-right think tank and political movement founded by former Cabinet Minister Valérie Pécresse.
Prior to that, Maël ran for the presidency of Les Républicains (2017), and was economic advisor and spokesman to Alain Juppé, former Prime Minister and candidate to the right-wing presidential primary (2015- 2016).
In addition to its political engagement, he has worked in the private sector, in investment banking (2006-2007), private equity (2008-2012), and as the CFO of a biotech company (2013-2016). He will join a global management consulting firm in the fall of 2018.
A graduate from Sciences Po Paris with a Master in Politics, HEC Paris with a Master in Management and La Sorbonne university with a Master in Business Law, Maël is the author of various essays on public finances, economics and French politics.
Maël is married and enjoys sailing in Brittany during his spare time.
