Kurt Davis Jr. is an investment banker with Houlihan Lokey. He advises companies and their boards as well as creditors across the globe on a range of transactions, including private and public debt financings, equity financings, special situations (including financial restructurings), and M&A.
Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Kurt executed M&A, divestitures, and equity and debt transactions for Barclays Capital. Before Barclays Capital, Kurt was a Principal with Crescimento Inteligente, a PE firm focused on investments in Africa. Prior to this, he worked with SGI Frontier (now Cerberus Frontier), where he managed PE transactions across a range of sectors, including industrials, consumer goods, and oil & gas.
Earlier, Kurt worked with the African Development Bank in the Office of U.S. Executive Director to the Board of Directors and with the Private Infrastructure Finance Group. Prior to this, Kurt worked with SPE Capital (formerly part of Swicorp), a PE firm focused on the Middle East and North Africa, where he focused on transactions across a broad group of sectors, including consumer goods, real estate, and telecom. He has also previously served as advisor to Kukula Capital, a venture finance and PE firm.
Kurt has had the opportunity to travel to 115+ countries and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He has authored numerous articles exploring markets and politics in the United States, Europe, Middle East, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. He has served on numerous for-profit and nonprofit boards, including Oikocredit US, Reewire International, FinTech4Good, The School Fund, and Right 2 Thrive. His nonprofit efforts are dedicated to education, economic opportunity, and financial inclusion as a way to give everyone an opportunity to create a better life for themselves.
Kurt graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political & Social Thought Interdisciplinary (Distinguished Major) and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Foreign Affairs. He also earned a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) with concentrations in tax law and commercial law from University of Virginia School of Law. He received a Master in Business Administration (M.B.A.) with concentrations in Finance, Operations, and Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
