Access to Health Care During the Pandemic, February 3, 2021
The French-American Foundation organized a Young Leader-led Zoom event to examine the primary care landscape in the United States and the greatest challenges to accessing health care since the start of the Covid-19 crisis. The discussion featured guest speaker Tom Lee (Young Leader ’08), CEO and Founder of Galileo, and moderator Anne Carpenter (Young Leader ’12), Director of Imaging Platform at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT.
Tom Lee began the event with an overview of his career as a physician and its impact on his ventures to incorporate a digital element to the traditional brick-and-mortar relationship between patients and providers. He explored the impetus for creating Galileo and how the company has adapted to the pandemic.
The second half of the event addressed questions from the audience. Topics included long-term use of virtual medicine, health care competition in a virtual landscape, and comparisons between the health care infrastructures in the US and France.
The discussion is part of our annual initiative to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Young Leaders program. The Foundation will organize events featuring Young Leaders throughout the year leading up to the fall 2021 seminar. Click here to learn more about the program.
