Luncheon with Ambassador Nicolas de Rivière, February 12, 2020
The French-American Foundation welcomed Nicolas de Rivière, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations, at a luncheon discussion surrounding the 75th anniversary of the institution and its role in international affairs in 2020. The event was moderated by Megan Carroll, 2018 Foundation Young Leader and Team Leader at the UN.
The closed-door event touched on the relationship between France and the UN, France’s priorities as a global actor, and the relationship between France and the United States on the international stage. Ambassador de Rivière spoke candidly about the value of peacekeeping, multilateral collaboration, and the current state of the French-US relationship.
The luncheon entered a Q&A period with members of the audience, which was composed of Young Leaders, Transatlantic Forum members, Board members, and friends of the Foundation. Ambassador de Rivière and Megan Carroll drew from their experiences to discuss the value of the UN as an institution, areas for improvement, and its work on topics like global migration.
The French-American Foundation hosts events throughout the year to bring together leaders from various backgrounds to examine public policy from a transatlantic perspective. Follow the link below for more information about our 2020 program calendar.
