Michael J. Naft

Mike is a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychology at Columbia University, where his research and teaching focus on structural stigma, intergroup bias, and the U.S. criminal justice system.

Before coming to Columbia, Mike served as General Counsel at Treesdale Partners, an investment management firm based in New York City. Prior to that, he was an associate at Covington & Burling and Sullivan & Cromwell, where his work focused on complex commercial litigation, internal investigations, white collar criminal defense, and regulatory enforcement matters.

Mike received his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School, his M.A. in Social Psychology from Columbia University, and his B.A summa cum laude in Philosophy and International Studies from Emory University. He clerked for Judge Constance Baker Motley of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He is a founding trustee of Bronx Success Academy 1, a charter elementary school in the South Bronx. Mike lives in Brooklyn Heights with his wife and daughter
