Kurt Davis
Kurt Davis Jr. is an investment banker with Houlihan Lokey. Kurt advises companies, their directors and officers as well as creditors across the globe on a range of transactions, including financial restructuring, debt and equity financings, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A). Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Kurt executed M&A and capital market transactions as part of Barclays Capital’s Global Natural Resources Group. Before Barclays, Kurt was a Principal with Crescimento Inteligente, a private equity firm based in Mozambique, focused on investments in Africa. Prior to this, he worked with SGI Frontier (part of Cerberus Capital), where he managed several PE transactions in East Africa.
Earlier, Kurt worked with the African Development Bank in the Office of U.S. Executive Director to Board of Directors and with the Private Infrastructure Finance Group. He also served as an advisor to Kukula Capital, a Zambian venture finance and PE firm. Prior to this, Kurt worked with Swicorp (now SPE Capital), a PE firm focused on the MENA Region, where he focused on deals across a broad group of sectors, including consumer goods, real estate, and telecom.
Kurt is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has authored numerous articles exploring markets and politics in Europe, Middle East, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. He was selected as a Young Leader for the French-American Foundation in 2020 and a Young Leader for the American Turkish Society in 2020.
Kurt has served on numerous for-profit and nonprofit boards, including Reewire International, FinTech4Good, The School Fund, and Right 2 Thrive. His nonprofit efforts are dedicated to education, economic opportunity, and financial inclusion.
Kurt graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political & Social Thought Interdisciplinary (Distinguished Major) and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Foreign Affairs. He also earned a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) with concentrations in tax law and commercial law from University of Virginia School of Law. He received a Master in Business Administration (M.B.A.) with concentrations in Finance, Operations, and Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
