The French-American Foundation hosted a virtual meeting of the Transatlantic Forum on Wednesday, October 14 at 6:00pm ET with guest speaker Maëlle Gavet, French businesswoman, author, and entrepreneur, to discuss her new book, Trampled by Unicorns: Big Tech’s Empathy Problem and How to Fix It. The event was moderated by Virginie Raphael, investor and advisor & Transatlantic Forum Member.
Maëlle Gavet: Maëlle Gavet has been a leading technology executive and entrepreneur for over 15 years. One of the tech industry’s brightest stars, Maëlle Gavet has been named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, one of Fortune’s 40 Under 40, one of the Most Creative People in Business by Fast Company and was fifth among Time magazine’s List of the Top 25 ‘Female Techpreneurs’. After six years as a Principal at the Boston Consulting Group she went on to become CEO of OZON.ru, Russia’s largest e-commerce site, and executive VP of operations of the Priceline Group, the largest online and travel agency in the world which includes brands like OpenTable, Kayak, and Booking.com.
Virginie Raphael: Virginie is an early-stage investor and advisor. She was most recently a Managing Director at Tusk Strategies where she spent the past eight years providing regulatory and political guidance and investing in early-stage founders operating in highly regulated industries. As a pre-seed investor and advisor, Virginie actively supports founders and funders who are solving impactful problems at scale while demonstrating relentless focus on execution. Leveraging over a decade of experience in banking, venture capital, and public policy, Virginie assists founders to strategically position and grow businesses in the health, agtech, and supply-chain space.
