The French-American Foundation hosted a Zoom webinar on Thursday, April 16 at 7:00pm ET with Emily Nemens, author and editor at The Paris Review, who discussed her new book, The Cactus League. The event was moderated by author & Young Leader Karin Tanabe.

Emily Nemens: Emily Nemens is a writer, illustrator, and editor. Her debut novel, The Cactus League, was published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux in February 2020. In 2018, Nemens became the seventh editor of The Paris Review, the nation’s preeminent literary quarterly. Since her arrival, the magazine has seen record-high circulation, published two anthologies, produced a second season of its acclaimed podcast, and won the 2020 National Magazine Award for Fiction.
Karin Tanabe: Karin is the author of the historical fiction novels The Diplomat’s Daughter and The Gilded Years (soon to be a major motion picture starring Zendaya and produced by Zendaya and Reese Witherspoon for Sony/Tristar), as well as The List and The Price of Inheritance, all published by Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Her fifth book, A Hundred Suns, was published by St. Martin’s Press on April 7, 2020.
