Séverine Autesserre & The Frontlines of Peace
April 2, 2021
Book Talk: The Frontlines of Peace, March 24, 2021
The French-American Foundation hosted a Zoom discussion with Séverine Autesserre, award-winning researcher and peacebuilder, to discuss the release of her new book, The Frontlines of Peace: An Insider’s Guide to Changing the World. The event was moderated by Megan Carroll (Young Leader ’18), Political Affairs Officer in the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism.
The presentation offered an engaging insight into humanitarian aid, international development, and the process of writing The Frontlines of Peace. The speakers encouraged participants to rethink traditional models of humanitarian aid through examples from the book.
The speakers devoted the second portion of the event to questions from the audience. Topics included the constraints of international funding in humanitarian efforts, the scalability of the peacebuilding model in The Frontlines of Peace, and the challenges posed by misinformation in humanitarian settings.
The French-American Foundation developed this virtual initiative to continue our mission of encouraging transatlantic dialogue while prioritizing the health and safety of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our events take place throughout the month.
