Announcing the 2026 Translation Prize Keynote Speaker

At the 2026 Translation Prize Awards Ceremony, the French-American Foundation is pleased to welcome keynote speaker Arthur Goldhammer, Senior Affiliate of the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard University and four-time winner of the French-American Foundation Translation Prize.

About Arthur Goldhammer

Arthur Goldhammer is a translator and writer. He has translated more than 125 books from the French, including such important works as George Duby’s The Three Orders, Alexis de Tocqueville’s Democracy in America, Thomas Piketty’s Capital in the Twenty-First Century, and Emile Zola’s The Kill. He is a four-time winner of the French-American Foundation Translation Prize and a recipient of the Médaille de Vermeil awarded by the Académie Française. He has a Ph.D. in Mathematics from MIT and has been both a National Science Foundation Fellow and a Guggenheim Fellow. He is also the author of a novel, Shooting War, and is currently at work on another novel, tentatively entitled Trinity, about two physicists in the 1930s.
