Andrea Johnson

Twenty nineteen marks the thirty-second anniversary of Andrea’s career as a political professional. She got her start writing and producing political TV and radio ads for Joe Slade White Communications in New York City. In 1992, she joined Saul Shorr’s media firm, and after re-locating to Philadelphia, became a partner in 2000. For sixteen years, Shorr Johnson Magnus was one of the top democratic media firms in America.
At SJM, Andrea directed the creative process for a long list of clients. She contributed to the communications strategy and creative content for nine current U.S. Senators, two current Governors and a long list of national political action committees. Andrea was also part of the Obama media team in 2008 and she created the closing negative TV ad of the campaign.
On January 1, Andrea will join GPS Impact as a principal in the firm’s new television and radio division. GPS Impact is a renowned digital political media firm, poised to become a national leader with the merger or online media with traditional broadcast advertising.
Originally from Eugene, Oregon, Andrea grew up in a politically active family. She is a graduate of Williams College with a degree in German Studies. Andrea lives just outside Philadelphia with her husband, Charles Ziccardi – a chef and South Philly native – and their two children.
