Salzburg Global Seminar’s 2019 Summit

The French-American Foundation joined other prominent fellowship programs for a three-day immersive learning seminar on February 6-9, 2019 in Salzburg, Austria.

Salzburg Global Seminar hosted the program in partnership with the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the Kellogg Fellows Leadership Alliance.

The program, “Citizen Diplomacy at the Crossroads: Activating Networks for Change,” convened 40 participants from organizations with leadership programs in the United States and Europe to engage in workshops, share best practices, and develop ideas for future collaboration. Participants shared perspectives on recruitment, selection, alumni engagement, monitoring, and evaluation. They also came up with practical next steps for working together to achieve shared goals.

Salzburg Global Seminar was founded in 1947 to challenge current and future leaders to shape a better world. It takes place at the rococo palace Schloss Leopoldskron, a historic building in the city of Salzburg. Over 36,000 fellows from more than 170 countries have come together through the work of Salzburg Global Seminar and its programs to bridge divides and expand collaboration.

Other organizations and institutes represented at the seminar included the Aspen Institute, the World Economic Forum, the Schusterman Foundation, Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the Truman National Security Project, Robert Bosch Stiftung, Yale Greenberg World Fellows, the U.S. Helsinki Commission, and the Institute of International Education.
