The 2020 Elections: Political Messaging in a Divided Era
Following the November Policy Breakfast with Dr. Hank Sheinkopf to analyze the results of the 2018 midterm elections, the French-American Foundation hosted its first breakfast of the new year on the subject of the 2020 elections. Andrea Johnson and Jim McLaughlin, top campaign consultants from opposite parties, each have over 30 years of experience with clients that include US Senators, Governors, and Presidents. They came together for a discussion on political messaging in the current US political climate.
Andrea Johnson: Andrea Johnson is Principal of GPS Impact. 2019 marks the thirty-second anniversary of Andrea’s career as a political professional. She got her start writing and producing political TV and radio ads for Joe Slade White Communications in New York City. In 1992, she joined Saul Shorr’s media firm, and after re-locating to Philadelphia, became a partner in 2000. For sixteen years, Shorr Johnson Magnus was one of the top democratic media firms in America.
Jim McLaughlin: Jim McLaughlin is President and Partner of McLaughlin & Associates. He is a nationally recognized public opinion expert, strategic consultant and political strategist who has helped to elect a US President, Prime Ministers, a Senate Majority Leader and a Speaker of the House. Jim has helped to elect over 70 members of Congress, 16 U.S. Senators, 10 Governors, numerous Mayors and scores of other elected officials. He also serves as a consultant and market research strategist to Fortune 500 companies.
