In addition to their historical and political relationship, France and the United States share ideals and values that they fight for side by side. Supporting female leaders and entrepreneurs is one of them.
A recent study titled “Women and Leadership 2018” conducted by The Pew Research Center revealed that a majority of Americans say they would like to see more women in top leadership positions. Moreover, most say that having more women in top positions in business and government would improve the quality of life at least somewhat for all Americans. These results are drawn from a national survey of 4,600 adults.
This is a belief long shared on both side of the Atlantic. This month, the 2018 Young Leaders had the honor of meeting Dina Powell, herself a Young Leader from the class of 2005. As former president of the Goldman Sachs Foundation, Ms. Powell oversaw the 10,000 Women Initiative, a global program that aims to foster economic growth by offering business education and access to capital to women entrepreneurs around the world.
In addition, on October 11th, the French-American Foundation hosted a Policy Breakfast with New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer. Mr. Stringer talked about the initiatives he launched to increase the participation of Minority and Women-Owned Businesses seeking to work with the City.
