The French-American Foundation hosted a Zoom webinar with guest speaker Josh Bivens, director of research at the Economic Policy Institute, and moderator Harun Dogo, Executive Director in the Global Sustainable Finance group at Morgan Stanley, on Wednesday, January 27 at 1:00 pm ET. The session focused on the impact of the coronavirus crisis on the already stark economic inequalities in the US.

Josh Bivens: Josh Bivens is the director of  research at the Economic Policy Institute (EPI). His areas of research include macroeconomics, fiscal and monetary policy, the economics of globalization, social insurance, and public investment. He frequently appears as an economics expert on news shows, including the Public Broadcasting Service’s “NewsHour,” the “Melissa Harris-Perry” show on MSNBC, WAMU’s “The Diane Rehm Show,” American Public Media’s “Marketplace,” and programs of the BBC. As a leading policy analyst, Bivens regularly testifies before the U.S. Congress on fiscal and monetary policy, the economic impact of regulations, and other issues. He has also provided analyses for the annual meeting of Project LINK of the United Nations and the Trade Union Advisory Committee (TUAC) of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Harun Dogo: Harun Dogo is an Executive Director in the Global Sustainable Finance group at Morgan Stanley, where he leads quantitative integration of sustainability into asset selection, pricing, and credit risk models. Prior to joining the Firm, he was an economist at the World Bank. He also served as a staff member at the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance and was a policy analyst at the RAND Corporation. A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, he also holds graduate degrees in applied physics and irregular warfare from the Naval Postgraduate School, and in policy analysis from the Pardee RAND Graduate School.
