The US-Europe-China Triangle & Its Geopolitical Challenges, June 30, 2020
The French-American Foundation hosted a Zoom webinar to discuss the geopolitical challenges linked to the relationship between the US, Europe, and China. The event featured guest speaker Benjamin Haddad of the Atlantic Council and moderator Julia Fromholz (Young Leader ’11) of the Arizona State University’s College of Law.
The webinar began with a discussion of Benjamin’s new book, Paradise Lost: Europe in the World of Trump. The speakers examined Trump’s constituency and the rhetoric of his campaign, what a transatlantic relationship might look like under a Biden presidency, and the outcome on the triangle if Trump is elected to a second term.
Moreover, the speakers addressed how the individual relationships between the US, Europe, and China influence the triangle as a whole. Topics discussed included global perceptions of democracy, travel restrictions between the three entities, and the future impacts of COVID-19 on geopolitics.
The French-American Foundation developed this webinar initiative to continue our mission of encouraging transatlantic dialogue while prioritizing the health and safety of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our webinars take place throughout the month.
