The French-American Foundation organizes initiatives with the goal of promoting a dynamic transatlantic partnership. Through conferences, fellowships and study tours, the Foundation creates opportunities for French and American leaders to come together to examine today’s most pressing issues and learn from each other’s experiences.

The Foundation currently organizes initiatives on infrastructure and sustainability; migration, media and equal opportunity;  publishing and translation and defense and security. In addition, our flagship Young Leaders program forms links across national and professional boundaries between young men and women holding key positions in business, government, the media and the non-profit sector.

Translation Prize

The French-American Foundation, with the long-standing support of the Florence Gould Foundation, has awarded annual translation prizes for the best translation from French to English in fiction and nonfiction since 1986. The winners of this year's prize, for work published in 2014, were announced at the annual Awards Ceremony held in June.

Young Leaders

The Young Leaders program, created in 1981, is the flagship initiative of the French-American Foundation. The program brings together leaders from both countries to ensure the continuation of close working ties at the highest level.

Media & Immigration

The Immigration Journalism Fellowship and Award, launched in 2011, promotes exemplary journalism on the topic of immigration. This program is the newest initiative in a series of multi-year programs on the themes of migration, media and equal opportunity.
