Johannes focuses on improving the effectiveness of public policies and social programs. He has gained experience in diverse set of social innovations, including behavioral economics, results-based finance, and impact investing. As a Senior Advisor at the Behavioral Insights Team, he designs and implements solutions to policy issues informed by behavioral insights with a particular focus on employment and international development. He works with governments and other clients to test and scale up interventions that improve human decision-making. His projects focus increasing employment, improving school management, and decreasing corruption, among other outcomes.
Previously, Johannes worked for three years as the CFO of Instiglio, a social start-up that focuses on results-based finance. He also worked as an investment professional at IFC, the World Bank’s investment arm, and in investment banking for Deutsche Bank in New York.
Johannes holds a Master in Public Administration in International Development from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a BA, magna cum laude, in economics and mathematical social sciences from Dartmouth College.
Johannes is a classically trained pianist and enjoys playing music in his spare time.
