Biography

Shamus is the managing director of global product development at Citibank; a newly-formed role based in Singapore. In June 2012, Shamus traveled to Singapore to assume this role which supports Citi leadership teams in the region. He and his family will be relocating to Singapore for a three-year period.

Previously, Shamus served as managing director of global operations technology at Citicorp NA. He was the technology lead for global collections, risk, and loss mitigation, working to drive technology solutions that maximize business value returned against top collections and risk priorities.

In August 2010, Shamus also assumed responsibility for NA cards contact center applications, including Sawgrass and the Legacy customer service and collections desktops, Middleware, Global Division Monitor, and the associated production support teams. Shamus also had responsibility to drive global consumer capabilities and standards for our contact centers, including automated dialing, interactive voice response, and voice recording. In June 2011, he assumed responsibility for the letters, and statements & embossing teams.

Shamus joined Citi in October 2004 as the client service executive for the Sears credit portfolio and subsequently managed partnership group technology for four years before taking on his global collections and risk role in 2009.

Prior to joining Citi, Shamus held leadership roles at GE where he most recently was the chief information officer, global healthcare services. During his tenure with GE, he was also client service executive at General Electric Employers Reinsurance Corp, and held information management positions at General Electric Aircraft Engines.

Shamus has a BS in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame, and is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Shamus and his wife Heather have a 7-year-old son, James, a 5-year-old daughter, Maeve and a 2-year-old daughter, Greta.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

I am a Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt, I enjoy fishing, being outdoors and spending valuable time with my wife and 3 children.

 

What are you most excited to do, learn, or see during your upcoming trip to France as part of the program?

During my visit to France, I am eager to take in some of the iconic trademarks of the country and enjoying the beauty of the area. While attending the Young Leaders program, I look forward to learning skills that will enable me to further develop myself as a leader as well as deepening my understanding of the working relationship between Americans and our French counterparts.

 

When you were 10 years old, what job did you imagine yourself having?

When I was around 10 years old, I envisioned myself being either a doctor or a lawyer. Obviously my career path lead me in a completely different direction.
