Responsibilities Charter for Young Leaders

This charter covers the responsibilities of what it means to be a Young Leader. Following this code will help you make the most of your experience. Please note that, should you be accepted into the program, you will be asked to sign and date a copy of this charter before you are fully inducted as a Young Leader.

As a current Young Leader

  • Be present and an active participant during the two seminars (in France and the US). It is very important for Young Leaders to attend both seminars in order to foster relationships with other Young Leaders and build a deep connection to the program and its mission. Should an emergency or other unforeseen circumstance arise, we ask that you do your best to inform us in a timely manner so we can accommodate you as much as possible.
  • Be respectful of speakers and guests during the seminars. This includes arriving on time to sessions and following the dress code. Please be mindful that our speakers have dedicated time out of their busy schedules to participate, and interruptions diminish the experience for everyone. We do understand that you may have to answer calls, texts or emails during the seminar, but we ask that you keep it to a minimum during sessions.
  • Be responsive and communicative with the French-American Foundation team throughout the year. Please do your best to answer emails promptly and make yourself available if needed. This greatly aids our ability to organize a smooth and successful seminar.

As a Young Leader alum

  • Be an active member of the French-American Foundation network and Young Leader alumni community. Joining a robust community of alumni is one of the key benefits of being a Young Leader. The French-American Foundation looks forward to your participation and expertise at the many panels and events we hold each year.
  • Update your biography and contact information regularly and when needed with the French-American Foundation. Having up-to-date information helps us stay in touch with you.
