Marc A. Sorel

Senior Engagement Manager in McKinsey & Company's Washington. 

Marc Sorel serves investors, government agencies, and non-profits on strategy, organization, and technology topics. He is a General Manager of McKinsey Cyber Solutions, the firm's cyber-security startup. Concurrently, Marc serves as a U.S. Navy Reserve Information Warfare Officer. Previously, as a civil servant Marc worked for the U.S. Departments of State, Defense, and Homeland Security, and the United Nations in the US, Austria, Israel, and the West Bank. He has published with the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs, The Yale Globalist, The Baltimore Sun, and others on matters of national security and foreign policy. Marc is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a non-resident fellow of the Georgetown Center on National Security and the Law. He holds a B.A. in History with distinction from Yale, and a J.D.-M.S.F.S. joint degree from Georgetown University, with distinction in the M.S.F.S. program at the Walsh School of Foreign Service, where he served as a Teaching Assistant to former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright. The proud son of two immigrants, one of whom spent two years studying medicine in France before immigrating to the US, Marc was born and raised in the Washington, DC area, where he currently resides. He is an avid (but out of practice) jazz pianist.
